Lullaby

Today has been a dreich day in the Shire....
A day that weatherwise, provided no motivation but provided surprising inspiration

When I had children I always wanted to be able to sing them a lullaby - a song that would calm and soothe them even when they were older and needed solace somehow, I would be able to wrap them up in my arms and sing them back to their childhood.

So today I looked for lullaby's and taught myself some new songs. My eldest daughter and I danced around whilst my young baby looked on and laughed and tonight I'll sing the new songs to my beautiful girls so they can take that happy memory off to their sleep.

The Switch

Watch it if you like a story.
It's full of beautiful moments, it's about human connections and their messiness.
It's not loud and outspoken or cheesy and romantic but subtle and in a small way its made me love movies again.

Cold Coffee

This morning I came down to a half drunk cold cup of coffee sitting on our kitchen table and it filled me with warmth.
It belongs to my husband who has already gone to work. It sits there all day like a jilted girl at a school disco waiting for his return. For some unknown reason he leaves the coffee and finishes it off when he gets in.
He hasn't done it for ages but there it was today - a reminder, not only that he was here but of how much I love him for all the small things...

Joy full!

Today was a day full of joy...
Waking to a beautiful blue skied, crisp Winter's day
A morning walk on the beach where Megs went ice skating in her wellies and did the happy dance because she did it "by my own"
Freshly baked bread dunked in olive oil and balsamic vinegar for lunch
followed by
A delicious Sunday roast... made even more tasty by not having to cook it and being able to eat it in such lovely company.
Today is a favourite kind of day.

Icy Morning

This morning there was ice on the sand. It sat there mischievously looking like water - inviting the unsuspecting to slip and slide like a newborn foal.
But it was beautiful... glistening in the winter morning sunlight, playing with the water flowing underneath... and it made me smile.
